Jackalope's Stare
First fully finished Medallion!! I had many in production, but this was the first one to be finished.
Made this Medallion based upon the first and only time I have seen a Jackalope; it was on a school field trip to a local Fort and other kids saw it with me.
My grandpa always used to talk about Jackalopes, so now I heavily associate that memory and Jackalopes with him.
Fierce Elegance
First time I attempted this type of pattern for the outline! Learned where I needed to improve pretty quickly after finishing it, and would attempt it even better later on down the line.
Once again pushing myself and my abilities with the medium to show as much detail as I could, including the paw pads!
Lilac Moon
First Beadwork Commission I ever took!! Had a lot of fun working on it and tried a few different things with it!
One of the things I tested was allowing more of the felt backing to be visible; I really feel like it amplifies this piece and the dark purple outline around the subjects.
ᎩᎦᎨ ᎤᏂᏚᏓ ᏓᏑᏫᏍᎦ ; Barking Red Wolf
Personal Brooch based around my name; Barking Red Wolf. The name holds a lot of meaning, and so does this Brooch.
Wolf's Wish
My very first Medallion Commission, and a very special one at that.
This Medallion was made for Wendy of Wolf Haven International's Montana location. She was diagnosed with cancer, and I was approached by the Animal Care Specialist Judah to create a special piece for Wendy to honor her time with Wolf Haven.
As soon as I was approached with this project, I immediatly saw the finished Medallion in my mind; a Mexican Wolf with two Dandelions. The Wolf was an obvious choice, but the Dandelions were a more intentional message I put into the Medallion;
Dandelions are about community and, of course, wishes and hope. The Dandelions in the Medallion are dispersing their seeds, showing that both locations are sending love and positive energy.
Unfortunately, she has since passed away. She will forever be in the hearts and minds of those at Wolf Haven for everything she has done for not just the organization, but for Wolves as a whole.
Ancestor's Fire
I wanted to make a design about our eternal connection to the Sacred Fire and our ancestors, so I made this design here!
Turquoise - The sacred spiral and Creator
Red - Ancestors
Orange - Trials/Rite of passage and Family
Orange Yellow - Strength and resilience
and the Eagle Feather is also for ancestors and the call to do what is asked of you.
Woodpecker's War
Meant as a tribute to the Woodpecker and those who have served in the Armed Forces, this centers around giving up your life and everything you hold dear for what you stand for.
Woodpeckers are used to symbolize the common soldier; the ones who usually end up sacrificing their life for the cause of their people. That is who these earrings are for.
The ones who have served. The ones who continue to serve. The ones who have given their life. The ones who have lost that life. The ones who have lost themselves mentally.
Black - Death and grieving
White - Hope and peace
Red - War
Yellow - Strength
You will notice these are also the only colors on the Woodpecker.
Many of my family members on my fathers side was involved in the Military, going all the way back to my 4x Great Grandfather, most of them being forced to serve due to drafts, and one of them, my Great Grandfather Jesse James,
lost his life fighting in WWII.
These earrings are meant as a tribute to them.
Bison's Spirit
My first time playing around with Tempera Paints! I hope to do more in the future.
It feels and produces a different result than what I'm used to, but that only draws it to me more and more.
Dolphin's Leap
Second Brooch Commission I ever took. Had A LOT of fun on this one with the species and the colors.
I've only drawn Dolphins a handful of times, and am very happy with the results of this piece.
Lone Wolf's Journey
A small panel about going your own way and following your own path, even if no one decides to join you on your journey; you're bound to meet others who will happily join you along the way.
Experimented a little bit on this one with trying to make the solder on the wolf textured to act like fur. Don't think I'll do it again as I don't like the look, but it was fun to try.
Toothless Head
Just a little Toothless suncatcher of his head! Had fun with the glass used on it.
Sweetgrass Braid Design
I was inspired to make this design after reading Braiding Sweetgrass, which I highly recommend reading.
Although most of my Ancestors actually didn't use Sweetgrass, I still value and respect the plant for its meaning, lore, history, and uses, and also used it in one of my first smudgings with a friend
so I wanted to show my respect the best way I could; making a Stained Glass design.
I also hope to eventually make a circular Sweetgrass Braid, but for now I only have this straight version.
Mini Cross Design
Decided to make a Cross design since I make other religious and spiritual symbols and got many requests for it at the Farmers Market in Chehalis. Although I do not agree with the symbol of Jesus being a cross, I respect the fact others use the symbol to represent and appreciate him.
I hope to make a bigger Suncatcher design for the Cross eventually.
Mini Moon Design
Just a simple little Moon design I came up with! Inspired by Darkside of the Moon by Pink Floyd.
Mini Peace Sign Design
People wanted a smaller version of the regualr Peace Signs I offer, so I filled that need!
Therian Symbol Design
Got a few requests of this from friends, and liked the challange it presented, on top of also identifying as Therian.
Being Therian means you feel a kinship with Animals, or a specific type of Animal. You know and understand you are not that Animal, but you cannot help but feel that kinship with them, as if you are one of them, and you see yourself as one of them.
I honestly feel as though this is simply part of Human Nature to feel this way, as we are also Animals, but that it has been mostly lost due to the push of Civilization and "Overpowering" Nature; the thought that we are "better" than Nature.
Humans becoming Animals and Animals becoming Human have been in stories from all across the world for hundreds of thousands of years; Native Americans, Greeks, Romans, Germans, and Celtic just to name a few ALL have stories going back centuries that involve Humans becoming Animals and Animals becoming Human.
And don't even get me started on Humans becoming Animals to seduce a Human.
I am sure, with these stories dating back thousands of years in mind, that Humans have had this feeling of kinship towards Animals in much bigger numbers before Civilization.
ᏗᎵᏍᏙᏗ ᎠᏓᏁᏗ ; Water Spider's Gift
My attempt at an old Cherokee design, the ᏗᎵᏍᏙᏗ (Di-li-s-do-di) ; Water Spider.
Water Spider gifted Fire to use, as she carried it on her back in her web as she skimmed across the Water.
No, I will not make prints of this design.
ᏓᎳᎳ ᎦᏆᏘᏗ ; Woodpecker Wheel
Another attempt at an old Cherokee deisgn, this one featuring Woodpeckers around a swirl pattern that surrounds a form of Medicine Wheel in the middle.
As stated in a previous piece, Woodpeckers represent the common soldier; the ones who risk and usually lose their life in battle.
The swirl pattern represents the threads of life itself.
The "starburst" represents the Warrior Spirit.
Although the wheel in the middle is meant to be a type of Medicine Wheel, I feel I must stress this is not the standard way the Medicine Wheel is viewed, as it is belived there are 7 directions; North, South, East, West, Above, Below, and "In This Place".
I also did a Formline design version as my Grandpa did Formline in the Military, and was taught by a fellow soldier in their downtime between Glass projects.
Since this piece is meant to honor the members in my family that have served, I felt it right to interpret it into Formline as well to honor specifically my Grandpa.
No, I will not make prints of this design.
Power of the Wasgo
Redraw of a piece I made back in 2023 of a Wasgo; an Orca and Wolf hybrid to some, and simply the Sea Wolves of Canada to others, but this specific version is based off the Orca and Wolf version of the story I heard from my Uncle.
Anytime I draw Wasgos, I'm thinking of him.
ᏍᎩᎩ ; That Way Design
ᏍᎩᎩ (S-gi-gi/S-ki-ki) ; That way is a way of expressing you are Queer or TwoSpirit. There are many other Cherokee terms used, but this one felt the best for me personally.
